Day 6 -Our first train ride!

Talk about cutting it close...we got on the train to Brussels and 1 minute later we were heading out of the station. No, we weren't late, the line was just moving really slow. Our plan of attack for once we arrived consisted of checking out this huge church, the infamous "pee-boy" statue (which was quite a disappointment if you ask Mark), and munching on some famous Belgian Frites...they claim that THEY are the inventors...mayo anyone? Brussels was not our main destination, so we hopped another train to Brugge. I fell in love with this place right away! It's dated all the way back to the 1300's with all the canals and cobblestone streets and anything else authentic from that era. We found a great B&B for $40 bucks a night. Along with this deal, we got our very own free Belgian Beer if we ate dinner there. The food was amazing (I think this was my first taste of vegetables since beginning our trip...everything is so, so bready around here!) and the beer, well, Mark and I don't really drink beer so let's just say it was OK for beer. I ended up finishing off Mark's (you know, when in Belgium, do as the Belgians do). We also did a little exploring of the city and realized that we were two of MANY people visiting this quaint little town for the weekend. Oh well, I guess you can't have something so great all to your self. Bedtime was a bit earlier tonight, 11:00 p.m.
Tomorrow we're hoping to explore a bit more.
Bye for now!
